Invitation

Uhuru! Mwafrika (African),

Thank you for expressing interest in attending the upcoming African Liberation Day celebration. This year’s ALD promises to be the most historic of its kind since the first ALD was held in Washington DC in 1972.

As you may know, the ALD will also serve as the conference to build the North American Region of the African Socialist International (ASI). The ASI is the single revolutionary organization that will function as the general staff for the international African revolution necessary to liberate and unite Africa and African people worldwide under the leadership of the African working class.

Since its 1981 Congress, the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) has been working around the world to build this international party of African revolutionaries. Now, following a successful regional conference in West Africa attended by more than 500 people each day and promising subsequent regional conferences being built in East Africa and Southern Africa, it seems this work has come to fruition.

This period of serious crisis for U.S. and European imperialism presents for us — Africans whose stolen labor and resources have built wealth for white power at the expense of our Africa and our dispersed people — an opportunity to end this parasitic relationship and take our future into our own hands.

Our objectives at this Washington, DC ALD conference — which will happen simultaneously with an ALD conference of its kind in Manchester, England — will be to establish a North American Regional committee of the ASI whose responsibility would be to lead the effort to spread the ASI and forward the objectives of the International African Revolution throughout North America. In addition, an invitation will be extended to the individuals and organizations in attendance at the ALD to join the ASI itself.

The African People’s Socialist Party is the physical manifestation of the ASI in Canada and the U.S. Individuals in North America who wish to join the ASI would do so by becoming members of the APSP. In order for an organization to join the ASI it must unite with the ASI Main Resolution adopted in 2004.

Attend as an Observer to the ALD

If you are not interested in joining the ASI, you may also attend the conference as an observer. If you and your organization are interested in attending as observers, please indicate in your response to this letter the number of people you plan on bringing to the ALD. Please make sure that they register for the conference as soon as possible.

Write a Solidarity Statement to the ASI In addition, we are calling on everyone to contribute to this historic effort by writing a statement of solidarity to the African Socialist International in our struggle to unite and liberate Africa. Click here to submit your statement.

Bring an ASI Organizer to Your Area!

Lastly, we are calling on individuals and organizations to have an ASI organizer come and speak to you and your group to help you organize the community to attend ALD. To bring an ASI organizer into your area contact our national office at 202.580.8276.

There are many other forms of participation in this process, from making a financial contribution to sending out information on the ALD and the ASI to others you may know. We welcome everyone’s participation. For more information contact our national office.

We thank you in advance!
